Recognized for Achievements in Implementing Various Initiatives
to Address Winter Welfare Blind Spots
Gijang County in Busan (County Governor Jung Jongbok) has been selected as an outstanding local government in the "2024-2025 Winter Welfare Crisis Household Identification and Support" evaluation, organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and has received the Minister of Health and Welfare Award.
This evaluation comprehensively reviewed all local governments nationwide, assessing their achievements in identifying households in welfare crisis and their own initiatives to resolve welfare blind spots. Gijang County received high marks for its proactive response to protecting vulnerable groups during the winter and for establishing a public-private cooperation system.
The county implemented specialized initiatives such as ▲side dish support projects for vulnerable groups, ▲intensive home visits during the winter, and ▲the "One-to-One Bonding" project, providing practical assistance to households in crisis.
In particular, the rapid resolution of welfare blind spots by fully mobilizing local human safety networks, including community social security councils and honorary social welfare officials at the town and township level, was highly praised.
Jung Jongbok, the county governor, stated, "This award is a valuable achievement created together by residents and public officials working in the field of welfare," adding, "We will continue to build a warm and inclusive Gijang County through a robust welfare safety net."
Gijang County plans to further strengthen its status as a "leading city in welfare" based on this award.
