The Comprehensive Forest Welfare Education Center was built in Seo-gu, Daejeon, as a wooden structure with one basement floor and seven above-ground floors, reaching a height of 28 meters, making it the tallest wooden building in Korea. This building was constructed using timber structure technology to lead carbon neutrality in the public architecture sector.

In particular, instead of reinforced concrete, 1,449 cubic meters of wood were used, with 968 cubic meters (67%) sourced domestically. The annual carbon storage expected from the use of wood is estimated at 242 tons.

The Comprehensive Forest Welfare Education Center will offer training programs for both forest welfare professionals and the general public in the future.

The main curriculum includes competency enhancement support for forest welfare business practitioners and certified forest welfare professionals, career education related to forest welfare, lifelong learning courses such as forest culture, health, and arts, programs to provide residents with forest welfare information and self-learning support, and capacity-building education for participants in forest welfare projects.

A white paper, photographs, and promotional videos documenting the construction process of the Comprehensive Forest Welfare Education Center are available on the website of the Korea Forest Welfare Institute.

Nam Taeheon, President of the Korea Forest Welfare Institute, said, "As a forest welfare platform institution that connects forests and people, the Korea Forest Welfare Institute will do its best to provide essential forest welfare services to the public and to nurture talent in the field of forest welfare."
