The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Arts Management Support Center announced on May 20 that they will participate in the 30th International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA2025), which will be held in Seoul from May 23 to 29. They will exhibit works by artists and art companies fostered by Art Korea Lab and showcase Korea's capabilities in convergence art to art and technology professionals from around the world.
ISEA (International Symposium on Electronic/Emerging Art) is the world's largest media art symposium and festival, where art, technology, and the humanities intersect. Since its inception in 1990, it has brought together approximately 1,000 artists, researchers, and technology experts from around the globe to shape discourse on art and technology.
Art Korea Lab is a comprehensive support platform for artists and art companies, providing integrated support for all stages of convergence art activities?from experimentation in art-technology creation and production, to demonstration, distribution, start-up, and growth. At ISEA2025, Art Korea Lab will exhibit works by supported artists and art companies and introduce its vision and support programs through talk sessions.
This ISEA collaborative exhibition will feature artists Hwia Kim and Jimi Yoo, who received support from Art Korea Lab's "Art-Technology Convergence Testbed Support," as well as Art Korea Lab resident companies "Kimchi and Chips" and "Wego Studio." Hwia Kim and Jimi Yoo were selected for the 2023 "Testbed Support" and the 2024 follow-up production support programs. Kimchi and Chips and Wego Studio were selected as resident companies, receiving three years of office space, creative and production facilities, one-on-one customized mentoring, and business expansion programs through Art Korea Lab.
The exhibition will be held at the Calligraphy Museum of the Seoul Arts Center and will be open to the public during the ISEA2025 period, from May 23 to 29, except for the regular closing day on May 26. Works symbolizing the fusion of advanced technology and art will be on display, including: Hwia Kim's interactive robotics sculpture [Setu Bandha Sarvangasana (Bridge Pose)]; Jimi Yoo's multimedia and VR art series [The End of Virtual Human]; Wego Studio's three-dimensional media using PDLC film [PDLC Media]; and Kimchi and Chips' machine learning-based anamorphic installation [Unread Characters].
As part of the ISEA2025 academic program on May 26, Art Korea Lab will introduce its support programs and discuss the present and future of art and technology platforms during a presentation session with leading domestic and international art and tech institutions. Detailed event schedules and information can be found on the official ISEA2025 website.
