Easing Regulations on the Gaming Industry... Support for AI Technology
On May 20, Kim Moonsoo, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, pledged to establish a "10-Minute Cultural Living Zone," where anyone in any region can access cultural experiences within a 10-minute walk.
On this day, Kim signed a policy agreement with the Federation of Artistic and Cultural Organization of Korea in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, and announced pledges aimed at advancing the domestic culture and arts industry.
First, to develop regions into cultural hubs, he stated that regional branches of national museums, such as local National Museums, Folk Museums, and the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History, would be established. He also announced plans to build regional branches of the National Art Museum tailored to local demand and to expand performance art hubs in each region.
The "10-Minute Cultural Living Zone" will also be created. To achieve this, community-based cultural spaces, such as local cultural centers and neighborhood performance venues, will be expanded, and support for the Culture Nuri Card for low-income groups, youth, and people with disabilities will be increased.
He also pledged to support the production of K-content. By providing intensive support to the musical industry, he aims to make Korea one of the world's top three musical powerhouses, while significantly easing regulations on the gaming industry. Policy funds will be expanded to allow content creators to focus on their creative work, and new tax credits will be introduced for the production costs of K-performance content and games. In addition, complex cultural districts will be established where advanced content can be produced and distributed.
Furthermore, support will be provided to actively utilize artificial intelligence (AI) technology in the culture and arts sector. An "AI Content Regulation-Free Zone" will be created, where content production and experimentation using AI technology are possible, and efforts will be made to support AI content production, nurture talent, and establish related funds.
