Assistive Device Support
Applications Accepted Until June 23
Damyang County in South Jeolla Province announced on May 20 that it will implement the "2025 Assistive Information and Communication Device Distribution Project" to support people with disabilities who face difficulties accessing information.
This project aims to reduce the digital divide and expand protection of rights in the digital environment by providing assistive devices tailored to the type of disability for people who have difficulty using information and communication devices such as computers and smartphones.
Eligible recipients include registered persons with disabilities residing in Damyang and national merit recipients with disability ratings. The distribution items consist of more than 130 types of devices essential for daily life, such as screen reader software, special mice, video phones, and optical character readers.
Selected applicants will receive support covering 80% of the device price, and up to 90% for recipients of basic livelihood security and those in the near-poverty group. Applications are accepted until June 23 and can be submitted online, in person, or by mail. In-person applications are available at the Administrative Department of Damyang County Office or at town and township offices.
An official from the county stated, "Guaranteeing information access rights for people with disabilities is a key task for an inclusive society," adding, "We will do our best to provide guidance and publicity so that those in need can apply in a timely manner."
