Ahn Cheolsoo, a lawmaker from the People Power Party, has proposed a meeting with Lee Junseok, the presidential candidate of the Reform New Party.

On May 20, Ahn stated on his Facebook page, "Let's have an open and honest conversation. I will fully accommodate your schedule and timing," making the proposal public.

Ahn said, "I am well aware of the deep wounds you have received from our party, perhaps more than anyone else. I have experienced the same things from the vested interests in the party that you have endured," and continued, "Although I contributed to a change in government through past unification efforts, the promise of a joint administration declared before the people was not kept. That is why I can truly understand your pain and sincerely offer my help."

He added, "Not only with regard to unification, but also in walking the path of a third party as you are now, I am the only person who has walked that path for a long time in order to change Korean politics."

He also delivered a message that they must join forces to block Lee Jaemyung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea. Ahn said, "Right now, we must absolutely stop Lee Jaemyung, who represents a 'great evil.' As you have pointed out, Lee Jaemyung is like a pseudo-religious figure," and continued, "The 120 won coffee price and 'hotel economics' are just the tip of the iceberg. Populism born of ignorance will devastate the national finances and ultimately destroy the lives of the people."

In conclusion, he said, "The fact that advanced countries in South America have rapidly fallen into underdevelopment is no longer just someone else's story. For the sake of the Republic of Korea, for the 20s and 30s generations, and for future generations, we must absolutely prevent this from happening," and appealed, "I earnestly ask you, candidate Lee. Whenever and wherever, I will accommodate you, and I expect that our meeting will be the starting point of victory."
