Ye Won Lee, who has dominated the domestic stage, has climbed to 25th in the world rankings.
In the weekly women's golf world rankings announced on May 19 (local time), she received 2.64 points, jumping 11 spots from 36th last week. This is her personal best ranking, surpassing her previous high of 27th, which she achieved immediately after winning the Sh Suhyup Bank MBN Women's Open in June last year. On May 18, at the final of the Doosan Match Play (total prize money of 1 billion won) on the KLPGA Tour, held at Ladena Golf Club (par 72, 6,384 yards) in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, she defeated Yumin Hwang by four holes to secure the title and earn valuable points.
Ye Won Lee claimed her third win of the season and ninth career victory by winning two weeks in a row, following her triumph at the NH Investment & Securities Ladies Championship last week. She also overcame the disappointment of finishing runner-up in the finals of this tournament in both 2022 and last year. Lee said, "It feels like a dream. I really wanted to win. I was very disappointed after losing in the finals twice, so I'm happy to have won this time," adding, "The physical strength I built up by focusing during winter training was the driving force behind this victory. My goal is to become the player with the most wins."
There was no change at the top of the rankings, as there was no LPGA Tour event last week. Nelly Korda (USA), Atthaya Thitikul (Thailand), and Lydia Ko (New Zealand) maintained their positions in the top three. Among Korean players, Hae Ran Ryu ranked 5th, Hyo Joo Kim 7th, Jin Young Ko 9th, Hee Young Yang 19th, Yoon Ina 24th, Jin Hee Lim 29th, Ji Ae Shin 30th, and A Lim Kim 31st.
