This year marks the 57th edition of the competition. A total of 90 cattle will be exhibited across five categories: heifer calves, unbred heifers, and three separate divisions for breeding cows. Applications for participation will be accepted until June 3. Entries can be submitted through the livestock departments of each city and county or through local livestock cooperatives.

The preliminary judging will be conducted by visiting the participating farms directly from June 9 to 20. Rankings for the heifer calf and unbred heifer categories will be determined at this stage. For the breeding cow divisions (1 to 3), 12 cattle that pass the preliminary round will advance to the finals, where the winners will be selected through on-site comparative judging at the main event in September.

For each category, one Grand Prize, one Excellence Award, and two Encouragement Awards will be selected. In addition, one overall Grand Champion will be separately chosen from among the award-winning cattle.

Notably, this year’s finals will also feature a judging communication program, allowing participating farmers to directly take part in the evaluation process and compare their assessments with those of the experts. This is expected to greatly help farmers improve their ability to select excellent cattle and develop strategies for national competitions.

Shin Jonggwang, Director of Livestock Policy at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "The Hanwoo Competition is more than just a livestock show; it is a valuable opportunity to enhance the quality of the Hanwoo industry in the province and increase farmers' incomes. We hope to see strong interest and active participation from livestock farmers across the province."

Meanwhile, the Gyeonggi Province Hanwoo Competition, which first began in 1966, has established itself as a traditional event. It is now recognized as a leading livestock event that annually selects outstanding Hanwoo cattle in the province and shares the results of breeding improvements.
