This activity involved 15 volunteer members and consisted of two programs: ▲‘Plogging’ to collect trash along the riverside, and ▲‘Throwing EM Soil Balls’ to improve water quality and eliminate odors.

In particular, during the plogging program, participants directly collected litter such as discarded vinyl, plastic, and cigarette butts, adding significance to the eco-friendly campaign by ‘practicing exercise and environmental protection at the same time.’

In the subsequent EM Soil Ball throwing activity, about 200 soil balls made by mixing loess and effective microorganisms (EM) were thrown into the Goseongcheon area, contributing to the purification of the river water and the elimination of odors. EM is known to be effective in removing odors and improving water quality, and in recent years, it has been widely used as a representative tool for eco-friendly volunteer activities across the country.

Jung Jaehoon, a volunteer who participated in the campaign with his family, shared his thoughts, saying, “It was a valuable time to experience the importance of nature firsthand by picking up trash and throwing EM Soil Balls with my child,” and added, “It became not just a volunteer activity, but also an opportunity for ecological education.”

An official from Goseong-gun stated, “We hope this activity will positively motivate local residents to voluntarily practice environmental protection,” and added, “We will continue to actively expand sustainable environmental management models through cooperation between the public and private sectors.”

Meanwhile, the Goseong-gun Haetsal Volunteer Group regularly leads the spread of eco-friendly culture in the local community by continuing activities such as community environment cleanup and support for vulnerable groups.
