The Suncheon Probation Center of the Ministry of Justice announced on the 19th that it is conducting a newly revamped compliance driving lecture order program for one week until the 20th, aiming to strengthen the compliance awareness of drunk drivers.

In the revamped program, practitioners from the Korea Road Traffic Authority, as well as former and current police officers, participate to vividly and convincingly share their real-world experiences regarding the understanding of traffic-related laws and cases of punishment for the 12 major gross negligence accidents. This approach is designed to help participants internalize the responsibility of drivers and the strictness of the law.

Additionally, through training by professional instructors in the field of psychological counseling, the program offers emotional empathy training based on actual traffic accident victim cases. It also encourages participants to self-diagnose their drinking habits and causes of accidents, and to establish practical plans for change. These efforts are expected to help strengthen the internal motivation of participants to prevent repeat offenses.

A representative from the Suncheon Probation Center emphasized, "The lecture order is not an optional liberal arts course, but a system in which the court, upon delivering a guilty verdict, requires offenders with a high risk of recidivism to receive education aimed at improving behavioral habits. The compliance driving lecture order is a preventive effort to substantially induce a shift in perception and behavioral change among drunk drivers, thereby enhancing their compliance awareness."
