The People Power Party Chungnam Provincial Party criticized, "SooHyun Park, the Democratic Party National Assembly member representing Gongju, Buyeo, and Cheongyang, insulted the citizens of Gongju and furthermore offended all Chungcheong residents with his outrageous remark that 'Gongju is the hometown of the leader of the rebellion.'

Youngseok Kim, Chairman of the Chungnam Provincial Party Committee, and People Power Party Chungnam Provincial Assembly members held a press conference at the Chungnam Provincial Government Press Center on the afternoon of the 19th, stating, "Describing his own constituency, Gongju, as the hometown of the leader of the rebellion is a shameful deviation that goes far beyond the bounds of what is acceptable for a politician."

They emphasized, "The 5.5 million residents of Chungcheong can never forgive SooHyun Park's behavior, which insulted not only the citizens of Gongju but also all Chungcheong residents as if they were traitors. If this is a new 'SooHyun Park-style political guilt-by-association law based on region,' it is truly an astonishingly totalitarian perception."

They went on to demand, "SooHyun Park must apologize to the citizens of Gongju and all Chungcheong residents. He must prostrate himself and apologize for revealing his own careless and vulgar perception, and resign from his position as National Assembly member for Gongju, Buyeo, and Cheongyang."

On the 15th, SooHyun Park, who serves as the Deputy Chief of Public Relations for the Democratic Party's election committee and represents Gongju, Buyeo, and Cheongyang, posted on his Facebook a message titled, "Let us wash away the disgrace of being the hometown of the rebellion leader Yoon Sukyeol."

Park explained, "Three years ago, in the 2022 presidential election, Yoon Sukyeol suddenly claimed Gongju as his hometown and called himself 'the son of Chungcheong,' which earned him many votes. The rebellion leader Yoon Sukyeol defeated Lee Jaemyung by an overwhelming margin: 13 percentage points in Gongju, 19 percentage points in Buyeo, 25 percentage points in Cheongyang, and a total of 17 percentage points."

He continued, "Despite receiving such favor, Yoon Sukyeol visited Gongju the day before the martial law declaration, deceived and insulted the citizens. While he was only thinking about martial law, he outwardly staged a 'disguise show' by calling himself 'the son of Gongju' and used the citizens of Gongju as a 'camouflage.'"
