Lee Jaemyung Shows Notable 8.8%P Increase in Daegu and Gyeongbuk
Lee Jaemyung Leads with 58.8% in Electability Survey
In the regular Realmeter poll conducted ahead of the 21st presidential election, Lee Jaemyung, the Democratic Party candidate, maintained majority support, while support for Kim Moonsu, the People Power Party candidate, also increased.
According to the public opinion poll released by Realmeter on the 19th (commissioned by Energy Economic News, conducted from the 14th to the 16th among 1,509 people aged 18 or older nationwide, using a 100% wireless automated response method; the margin of error is ±2.5 percentage points at a 95% confidence level; response rate is 8.4%), candidate Lee Jaemyung recorded 50.2%, a decrease of 1.9 percentage points compared to last week's survey.
Candidate Kim Moonsu was found to have increased by 4.5 percentage points to 35.6%. The gap in support between the two candidates is 14.6 percentage points, which exceeds the margin of error. Lee Junseok, the Reform New Party candidate, recorded 8.7%, an increase of 2.4 percentage points.
In a hypothetical head-to-head match, Lee Jaemyung received 54.3% while Kim Moonsu received 40.4%, resulting in a difference of 13.9 percentage points. In a hypothetical head-to-head between Lee Jaemyung and Lee Junseok, Lee Jaemyung recorded 51.4%, leading Lee Junseok (30.0%) by 21.4 percentage points.
In response to the question about the likelihood of winning, Lee Jaemyung received 58.8%. Kim Moonsu received 33.6%, and Lee Junseok received 3.4%. Regarding party support, the Democratic Party was at 46.4%, a decrease of 0.5 percentage points; the People Power Party was at 34.2%, a decrease of 3.5 percentage points; and the Reform New Party was at 5.9%, an increase of 2.5 percentage points.
The lead of candidate Lee Jaemyung is also confirmed in other polls.
In the Ipsos poll (commissioned by Korea Economic Daily, conducted from the 16th to the 17th among 1,002 people aged 18 or older nationwide, using a 100% wireless telephone interview method), Lee Jaemyung was at 51%, Kim Moonsu at 32%, and Lee Junseok at 7%.
In the Korea Research poll (commissioned by Hankook Ilbo, conducted from the 12th to the 13th among 3,000 people aged 18 or older nationwide, using a proprietary panel and web survey method), Lee Jaemyung received support from 43% of respondents. Kim Moonsu was at 25%, and Lee Junseok at 8%.
