Available in All Seven-Eleven Stores Nationwide
Pop-up Store Attracts 15,000 Visitors
Samyang Foods is accelerating its expansion into the Southeast Asian market by officially launching its global spicy brand 'MEP' in Malaysia.
On the 19th, Samyang Foods announced, "We have opened a pop-up store in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, and confirmed the entry of our products into all Seven-Eleven stores."
'MEP' is a global brand independently developed by Samyang Foods, with its name inspired by 'MAEPDA' (spiciness). Unlike ramen that is simply spicy, the brand embodies the K-food identity of delivering 'thrilling enjoyment and a sense of liberation.' The product lineup features exotic spicy flavors, including 'Grilled Garlic Shrimp Ramen' and 'Black Pepper Chicken Ramen.'
Following launches in Thailand in December last year and Japan in February this year, Samyang Foods is now actively targeting the global instant ramen market by introducing the 'MEP' brand in Malaysia as well. In particular, the company has formed a strategic partnership with the local convenience store chain Seven-Eleven, securing exclusive entry into approximately 2,500 stores nationwide.
To commemorate the launch, Samyang Foods operated a pop-up store at Sunway Pyramid, a large integrated shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur, from May 15 to 18. The event featured experiential zones including a game zone, tasting zone, and sales zone, which received a positive response from visitors.
A Samyang Foods representative stated, "Local consumers expressed satisfaction with the unique taste of 'MEP' ramen at the tasting zone, and there were long queues at the sales zone," adding, "Approximately 15,000 people visited the pop-up store over the four days."
