Recruitment Begins for "Global Semiconductor Design Expert Program" Trainees
Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor: Shin Sang-jin) is partnering with Sogang University to foster advanced talent in the field of semiconductor design.

According to Seongnam City on May 19, the two institutions have officially launched the "Global Semiconductor Design Expert Program" at the "Sogang-Pangyo Digital Innovation Campus," which is scheduled to open in July, and have begun recruiting trainees in earnest.
This training program is a core component of Seongnam City's ongoing "System Semiconductor Talent Development Project," and has been established to systematically nurture advanced design professionals who will lead the domestic fabless industry.
The program is open to graduates or soon-to-be graduates of electrical, electronic, or computer-related departments. Unemployed residents of Gyeonggi Province aged 19 or older who are Seongnam citizens will receive preferential consideration. A total of 40 participants will be selected, with applications accepted via email from May 19 to June 13. Interviews will be held on June 19 and 20, and the final list of successful candidates will be announced on June 25.
The training will run for 20 weeks from July 7 to November 28, with eight hours of instruction per day. The focus is on cultivating globally competitive semiconductor design professionals through intensive, hands-on training and project-based learning. The program is completely free of charge, and trainees will also receive a training allowance.
The training will take place at the Sogang-Pangyo Digital Innovation Campus, located on the 3rd floor of Weeden Tower 2, 56 Geumto-ro 80beon-gil, Sujeong-gu, Seongnam City. Further details can be found on the Sogang System Semiconductor Design Education Center website or by phone.
This project marks the first tangible outcome of the memorandum of understanding signed in April last year between Seongnam City and Sogang University, which pledged mutual cooperation in advanced industries such as system semiconductors and AI. Previously, Seongnam City became the first in the nation to establish a "System Semiconductor Development Support Center," has operated a fabless alliance, and was selected for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's "Fabless Advanced Equipment Shared Utilization Support Project," thereby solidifying its position as a semiconductor industry hub.
A Seongnam City official stated, "With the addition of the Sogang-Pangyo Digital Innovation Campus, following the Pangyo KAIST AI Education and Research Facility and the Sungkyunkwan University Fabless AI Research Center, Seongnam is becoming the center of advanced education and research infrastructure," adding, "We will create a practical, industry-oriented educational ecosystem where the industry and the region grow together."
