The Korea Meteorological Administration reported, citing overseas monitoring agencies, that a magnitude 6.0 earthquake occurred at 7:22:13 p.m. KST on May 17 in an area 180 km south of Ayacucho in southern Peru.
The epicenter was located at latitude 14.77 degrees south and longitude 74.16 degrees west, with a focal depth of 92 km.
