16,000 Hanwoo Farmers Declare Support for Presidential Candidate Lee Jae Myung

More than 16,000 Hanwoo cattle farmers from the Gwangju Jeonnam branch of the National Hanwoo Association have declared their support for Lee Jae Myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate.

The declaration of support, held on the 17th at the Gwangju Livestock Cooperative, was attended by lawmaker Moon Geumju, Min Kyungcheon, president of the National Hanwoo Association, and Yoon Soonsung, head of the Gwangju Jeonnam branch of the National Hanwoo Association.

The Gwangju Jeonnam branch's declaration of support was prompted by the fact that candidate Lee Jae Myung has presented realistic pledges that faithfully reflect the demands of the field, positioning himself as a qualified leader for the future of the livestock industry.

Additionally, it is assessed that lawmaker Moon Geumju's passionate work on the National Assembly's Agriculture, Food, Rural Affairs, Oceans and Fisheries Committee played a significant role in leading to bipartisan agreement in the committee's subcommittee on the long-standing wish of the Hanwoo industry, the "Hanwoo Act." The "Hanwoo Act," proposed by Moon Geumju, addresses the Hanwoo industry's long-standing issues such as rising feed costs and FTAs, and has been adopted as an official party platform by the Democratic Party.

Moon Geumju stated, "The Hanwoo industry has strategic value in terms of public interest and food security," adding, "I will do my utmost to listen to the urgent voices from the field and provide legal and policy support so that Hanwoo farmers can truly feel the benefits."
