The merchant associations of Namgwangju Market and Namgwangju Haetteune Market issued a joint statement on the 17th, saying, "The foundation of Korea's economy is the local commercial districts, and the heart of the region is the traditional market. What merchants who have protected the lives of ordinary people and the regional economy need now is not superficial campaign pledges, but practical policies that genuinely empathize with their hardships."

The associations particularly highlighted, "Debt adjustment measures such as COVID-19 loan forgiveness and long-term installment repayment, a significant expansion of local currency and Onnuri gift certificates, and the promotion of the Commercial District Renaissance 2.0 are policies that accurately address the urgent realities faced by merchants. Lee Jae Myung is the only candidate for people's livelihood who is reaching out to help us rise together." The associations also added, "We sincerely hope that candidate Lee Jae Myung will be elected as the true people's president for ordinary citizens and the regional economy."

Meanwhile, the support declaration on this day is significant as it was made directly by leading traditional markets located in Dong-gu, Gwangju. It is also seen as reflecting the current public sentiment, as support from traditional market merchants continues following Daein Market.
