President Donald Trump of the United States stated that South Korea wants to reach a trade agreement with the United States regarding tariff issues.
In an interview with local media on the 16th (local time), President Trump said, "Everyone wants to make a deal with us," and added, "South Korea wants to make a deal with us. But I will not make deals with everyone."
He went on to say, "I'm just going to set limits. I will make some more deals, but I can't meet with that many people. There are 150 countries that want to make a deal with us."
President Trump has previously stated that at a certain point, he would stop negotiations with other countries and unilaterally impose tariffs.
He claimed that if he had not reached a trade agreement with China, it would have been China, not the United States, that would have broken down first. He also said that India is trying to eliminate 100% of tariffs on American products.
Regarding Russian President Vladimir Putin's lack of cooperation in peace negotiations with Ukraine, President Trump said, "I think we will make a deal. We need to meet, and I think we will probably schedule a meeting."
He also claimed that Iran, which is engaged in nuclear negotiations with the United States, "wants to make a deal."
