On May 17, the day before the 5·18 Democratization Movement commemoration ceremony, Lee Jae Myung, the Democratic Party candidate, and Kim Moonsoo, the People Power Party candidate, will both visit the Honam region to rally their respective support bases. In this region, which serves as a key stronghold for the progressive camp, the two candidates will deliver their messages in distinctly different ways.

Lee Jae Myung will hold a campaign rally in front of Geumseonggwan in Naju, South Jeolla Province, in the morning, then move to the plaza at Kim Dae Jung Convention Center in Gwangju for a focused campaign event. In the afternoon, he will participate in a roundtable titled 'K-Content-eSports LEVEL UP!' to discuss strategies for developing the content industry. In the evening, he will attend the official eve event for the 5·18 commemoration, held at the main stage in front of the Geumnamro 4-ga Station intersection.

Kim Moonsoo will pay his respects at the National 5·18 Democratic Cemetery in Buk-gu, Gwangju in the morning, and then visit the site of the former Gwangju Prison to deliver messages related to the democratization movement. Afterwards, he will preside over a local election campaign committee meeting at the Kim Dae Jung Convention Center in Gwangju, then travel to Jeonju, North Jeolla Province, where he will campaign in front of Jeondong Cathedral, greet people on the streets of Jeonju Hanok Village, and attend a roundtable with the North Jeolla Private Taxi Association.

Kim Moonsoo will not attend the eve event on May 17 or the commemoration ceremony on May 18. His campaign explained that this is due to prior commitments, including preparations for a televised debate.
