On May 16, at Ladena Country Club (par 72) in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, Ye Won Lee defeated Gah Bin Choi by one hole in the third match of the group stage at the Doosan Match Play on the KLPGA Tour (total prize money: 1 billion won). By winning all three group stage matches, she secured her spot in the round of 16. Her next opponent for a place in the quarterfinals will be Da Yeon Lee. Ye Won Lee reached the finals of this tournament in both 2022 and last year, but had to settle for runner-up finishes after losing to Jung Min Hong and Hyun Kyung Park, respectively.

This tournament features 64 players divided into groups of four, with each player facing the others once. A win earns 1 point, a tie 0.5 points, and the player with the most points in each group advances to the round of 16. From the round of 16 onward, the tournament becomes a knockout format, with head-to-head matches where a loss means elimination, continuing through to the final.

This year, Ye Won Lee has already claimed victories at the Doosan Engineering & Construction We’ve Championship and the NH Investment & Securities Ladies Championship, becoming the first player to achieve two wins this season. She currently leads in prize money, Player of the Year points, and scoring average. At Doosan Match Play, she is aiming for her third win of the season and her second consecutive victory in as many weeks.

Ye Won Lee said, "I'm happy and more confident after advancing to the round of 16 with three straight wins in the group stage. In the past, I had to play extra holes to reach the round of 16, which was very tough," adding, "From the round of 16 onward, it's over if you lose, so I plan to play aggressively and have no regrets in my matches."
