Full-scale Support for Local Companies Entering Military Supply Commercialization and Public Procurement
Gyeongbuk Technopark signed a business agreement with the Korea Procurement Research Institute on May 16 to establish a cooperative system for public procurement in the defense industry.
The purpose of this agreement is to enable companies in the Gyeongbuk region to participate in the commercialization of military supplies and public procurement based on outstanding private-sector technologies, thereby making a tangible contribution to entering the defense industry and supporting corporate growth.
The details of the agreement include: discovering excellent companies capable of linking with public procurement; providing information on related support programs; conducting research on ways to commercialize military supplies and providing education on public procurement systems; and jointly participating in technology commercialization projects for the commercialization of military supplies.
Gyeongbuk Technopark has secured a budget of 5.5 billion KRW for the promotion of the aviation and defense industry in 2025, and is currently carrying out various support programs to strengthen the technological capabilities of local companies and enhance the export competitiveness of K-defense.
Through this business agreement, the two institutions plan to support broader participation of Gyeongbuk-based companies across the entire defense industry, including not only weapons systems but also power support systems, and will prioritize local companies' participation in the future.
Ha Inseong, President of Gyeongbuk Technopark, stated, "We hope that this agreement will lay the foundation for local companies to participate meaningfully across the entire defense industry," and added, "We will work closely together to strengthen institutional linkages and technical support for entering public procurement."
