The Hongseong County Agricultural Technology Center announced on May 16 that it held a 2025 Emergency Pest Control Council for township and town pest control managers at the center's conference room.
The meeting was attended by pest control managers from 11 towns and townships, officials from the county government’s Forest and Greenery Division, and staff from the Agricultural Technology Center. Participants shared recent trends in pest outbreaks due to climate change and discussed tailored pest control strategies and joint control schedules for each region.
Based on the results of this meeting, the Agricultural Technology Center plans to provide pest control agents to each township and town from May 20 to June 15, and will conduct monitoring and the first round of joint pest control, focusing on areas with concentrated outbreaks of emergency pests.
In particular, the center will use drones to control pests on roadside trees in towns and townships, and will also apply eco-friendly agents to environmentally friendly farming areas. Additional pest control operations are planned for August and September. The center will make every effort to control and prevent the spread of invasive and emergency pests.
Lee Seungbok, Director of the Hongseong County Agricultural Technology Center, emphasized, "Due to climate change, the timing and scale of emergency pest outbreaks have become unpredictable. Through cooperation among towns and townships, we will implement swift and systematic pest control measures to minimize damage to local farmers."
