The Ulsan Economic Free Zone Authority will dispatch an energy and industry cooperation delegation to the United Kingdom and the Netherlands for an eight-day, six-night schedule from May 17 to May 24, 2025.

The delegation consists of six members, including Lee Kyungsik, Commissioner of the Ulsan Economic Free Zone Authority, as the head of the group, along with staff from the Economic Free Zone Authority and the main office’s Energy Industry Division.

They will visit the United Kingdom and the Netherlands to present investment projects within the Ulsan Economic Free Zone, hold meetings with investors, identify the latest technologies in the hydrogen industry, and expand international cooperation.

For the first item on the agenda, on May 18, they plan to meet with officials from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the United Kingdom to share trends in the UK energy industry and discuss ways to establish cooperation networks.

On May 19, they will visit the West Midlands Investment Zone in Birmingham, a special economic zone focused on high-growth industries in the UK, as well as the Birmingham City Council.

The West Midlands Investment Zone visited the Ulsan Economic Free Zone Authority in February to discuss bilateral cooperation. During this visit, the delegation will meet with John Baity, Head of Investment Promotion at the West Midlands Investment Zone, and Lloyd Broad, Head of International Affairs at Birmingham City Council, to discuss comprehensive cooperation between Ulsan and Birmingham, including industrial development and research and development collaboration.

On May 20, in London, they will participate in the Korea-UK Investment Forum for the Day of Korean Economic Free Zones in Europe, together with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, KOTRA, and four other free zone authorities (Chungbuk, Gwangyang Bay, Incheon, and Busan Jinhae).

At this event, they will introduce Ulsan’s industries to investors from the UK and Europe. They will also present ongoing projects in the Ulsan Economic Free Zone, including the KTX Ulsan Station area development, the hotel-silver town complex development, and the International Arts School project, and hold one-on-one meetings with potential investors.

On May 21, they will visit Connected Places Catapult in London to discuss investment attraction cooperation such as business matching between companies in the future mobility sector, and joint initiatives for the transition to carbon-neutral cities.

Connected Places Catapult is one of nine innovation organizations established by the UK government to commercialize advanced technologies, responsible for transportation and smart city sectors.

For the final agenda, on May 22, they will attend the World Hydrogen Summit 2025 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. At this exhibition, the Ulsan Economic Free Zone Authority plans to identify the latest technologies and products in the hydrogen industry and expand its network with global hydrogen companies, which has been actively pursued since last year.

Commissioner Lee Kyungsik stated, "Through this European energy industry cooperation delegation, we will promote the investment appeal of Korea and the Ulsan Economic Free Zone, and strive to expand and strengthen communication channels with global hydrogen companies to attract investment."
