Kim Jaewon: Discussing Mutual Cooperation to Resolve Trade Issues

Kim Moonsoo, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, met with Joseph Yun, Charg? d'Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Korea, on the 15th to discuss various bilateral issues, including strengthening the South Korea-U.S. alliance and the North Korean nuclear issue.


Kim Jaewon, Chief Secretary for candidate Kim, held a press conference at the National Assembly on the same day and stated, "Candidate Kim had a luncheon meeting with Joseph Yun, Charg? d'Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Korea, at the ambassador's residence in Jeong-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul."

The meeting took place from 11:40 a.m. to 1:10 p.m.


According to Chief Secretary Kim, candidate Kim expressed, "I deeply appreciate Charg? d'Affaires Joseph Yun's efforts to maintain peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula, even amid a complex international situation," and added, "Today has been a meaningful occasion to engage in sincere dialogue on strengthening the South Korea-U.S. partnership, addressing the North Korean nuclear issue, and cooperating to resolve trade matters."


Chief Secretary Kim explained that "various pending issues between the two countries were discussed." However, he noted that further details would not be disclosed in accordance with diplomatic protocol.


Chief Secretary Kim added, "Candidate Kim plans to continue close cooperation with the United States and other allied countries and to further solidify the value of the South Korea-U.S. alliance."
