Gwangju Veterans Office Visits National Merit Recipients with Talent Donation from Chosun College Students

The Gwangju Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs announced on May 15 that, in celebration of Family Month in May, students from Chosun College of Science and Technology participated in a talent donation project to deliver care packages to vulnerable national merit recipients.

The Department of Hotel Culinary & Patisserie at Chosun College of Science and Technology delivers handmade desserts every year to express respect and gratitude to national merit recipients. This year as well, students prepared traditional Korean sweets and Sikhye, and personally visited the homes of 15 vulnerable national merit recipients residing in Duam-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju to deliver the gifts.

Jeong (95), a Korean War veteran, said, "Receiving such a heartfelt gift and having a conversation made me feel less lonely and truly happy."

Kim Seokgi, head of the Gwangju Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, stated, "I am grateful to Professor Kim Yunmin and the students who participate every year through their talent donations," adding, "We will make sure to take thorough care so that no national merit recipient is left behind."

The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs is promoting the 'Bohun Dream for All' donation project, which encourages nationwide participation to honor and improve the welfare of national merit recipients who have dedicated and sacrificed themselves for the country and its people.
