11 Lee Joonghan Scholarship Recipients
On May 15, the Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education announced that it had provided a total of 164.4 million won in Daejeon Happy Education Scholarships and Lee Joonghan Scholarships for the 2025 academic year to 137 students selected by the Daejeon Happy Education Scholarship Foundation.
The Daejeon Happy Education Scholarship Foundation awarded scholarships of 1.2 million won per person to a total of 137 students, including 126 Daejeon Happy Education Scholarship recipients recommended by high schools and 11 Lee Joonghan Scholarship recipients.
Among the Daejeon Happy Education Scholarship recipients, 100 students were selected based on income criteria, and 26 students were selected for outstanding talent (in academics, natural sciences, arts, and physical education). For the Lee Joonghan Scholarship, 11 students who met the income criteria were selected.
The Daejeon Happy Education Scholarship Foundation was established in 2008 by the Daejeon Office of Education to foster outstanding local talent. Currently, the foundation continues its active scholarship programs based on a fund totaling 6.22 billion won.
Meanwhile, the Lee Joonghan Scholarship is managed separately to honor the wishes of the late Lee Joonghan, a venture entrepreneur from Daejeon who passed away in an unexpected accident, with his bereaved family making the donation.
Superintendent Seol Dongho stated, "I hope that the students selected as Daejeon Happy Education Scholarship recipients and Lee Joonghan Scholarship recipients will not lose their dreams and hopes, and that they will develop their talents to become leading local talents."
