Mokpo National University Holds Meeting on Regional Specialized Visa System

"Supporting the Local Settlement of International Students"

The Jeonnam Immigration and Foreigners Support Center, operated by Mokpo National University (President Song Hacheol) under commission, held a meeting on May 14 with officials from the Jeollanam-do Immigration Policy Division and international cooperation offices of universities in the province. The purpose was to promote the activation of the regional specialized visa system.

According to Mokpo National University on May 15, the meeting was organized to share the direction of the Jeonnam Regional Specialized Visa Project and to discuss cooperation measures among universities, local governments, and the support center to help foreign students stay in the region stably and settle into the local community.

During the meeting, the following topics were covered: an introduction to the foreign student support functions of the Jeonnam Immigration and Foreigners Support Center platform; an overview of the Ministry of Justice’s metropolitan visa pilot project and the regional specialized visa system; and a special lecture by an expert based on real-life cases. The event also served as a venue for exchanging opinions and sharing information to establish practical cooperation systems among the participating institutions.

Kim Ilsu, Director of the Jeonnam Immigration and Foreigners Support Center, stated, "This meeting will serve as a starting point for laying the foundation for international students in the Jeonnam region to stay stably and successfully settle in the local community," and added, "We will continue to strive for more effective support for international students through close cooperation among universities, local governments, and the center."

Meanwhile, the Jeonnam Immigration and Foreigners Support Center is an institution operated by Mokpo National University under commission from Jeollanam-do. It provides a variety of services to support the stable settlement of foreign residents, including the operation of an integrated support platform, a foreign resident integrated call center, a social integration program, and an early adaptation program for immigrants.
