Tourists from Across the Country Enjoy Unique Local Experience
Suncheon City, South Jeolla Province (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu), announced on May 14 that the "Suncheon World Garden Village Tour," a special travel program blending Suncheon's gardens and villages, concluded successfully with enthusiastic responses from tourists on May 9 and 10.
This tour was an unusual tourism product planned under the theme of "World Garden Local Tour," featuring three villages in Suncheon: the Japanese-style Garden Village in Jogok-dong, the first Western-style Garden Village in Maegok-dong, and the Korean-style Garden Village in Jeojeon-dong. Each village showcased its own unique garden culture and local stories.
Among tourists from across the country, families and people in their 40s and 50s showed particularly strong interest. Notably, Suncheon City provided a Suncheon Love Gift Certificate worth 10,000 won as part of the 40,000 won participation fee, encouraging visitors to dine at restaurants near Suncheon Station. This initiative was intended to offer some support to struggling small business owners.
One participant shared, "Just as the city is described as a place that embraces gardens, it was a special experience to directly encounter gardens from different eras within the villages," and added, "I hope these kinds of travel programs will continue in the future."
A city official stated, "This program is scheduled to continue on May 16 and 17," and added, "For those who wish to take a leisurely walk through Suncheon's villages themed around gardens and find rest in nature, this journey will be a special time for self-reflection."
