The 'Dementia Care Village' is a dementia-friendly community created to enable people with dementia to live together with their neighbors in the community where they have always lived.

Cheongsong-gun began this initiative last year by designating Mungeo 1-ri in Andeok-myeon, and this year, Gwangdeok 1-ri in Jinbo-myeon has been newly designated.

During the event, carnations were presented to about 100 local residents at the senior community centers in both villages as a gesture of appreciation. In particular, at the newly designated Gwangdeok 1-ri, a resident briefing session and the plaque ceremony were held to enhance understanding and awareness of dementia.

One elderly resident who participated in the event shared a heartfelt message, saying, "I am grateful that you visited us on Parents' Day, and I am especially thankful for the carnation you gave me."

Governor Yoon Kyunghee stated, "I hope that this time spent together with the village residents will provide some comfort to the citizens who were affected by the forest fire," and added, "We will continue to pay close attention to ensure that vulnerable groups are not left behind, and we will do our best to address any gaps in dementia care."

The Cheongsong-gun Dementia Safety Center plans to continue providing various support activities, including dementia awareness education and dementia prevention programs, for elderly people living alone with dementia and residents of the Dementia Care Villages.
