[Market Focus] Doosan Enerbility Hits Record High Amid Closer Ties with Czech Republic

Doosan Enerbility is showing strong performance in early trading.

As of 9:07 a.m. on May 14, Doosan Enerbility was trading at 31,200 won, up 5.23% (1,550 won) from the previous day. At one point during the session, the stock soared to 31,400 won, setting a new 52-week high.

The boost in investor sentiment is attributed to the strengthening relationship between Doosan Enerbility and the Czech Republic. Doosan Enerbility announced that its subsidiary, Doosan Skoda Power, is serving as an official sponsor of the "Prague Spring International Music Festival," which is currently being held in Prague, Czech Republic. The company also stated that Chairman Park Ji-won and other executives attended the event. Previously, on May 12, Chairman Park Ji-won met with Czech President Petr Pavel for a conversation at a reception held before the festival's opening concert at Smetana Hall.

Doosan Enerbility is currently participating in the new Dukovany nuclear power plant project in the Czech Republic as part of "Team Korea" alongside Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power. Doosan Enerbility plans to supply key nuclear power plant equipment, such as reactors and steam generators, while its Czech subsidiary, Doosan Skoda Power, will be responsible for manufacturing steam turbines and related components.

Jang Moonjun, a researcher at KB Securities, stated, "The key to this nuclear power cycle is 'Beyond Team Korea.' This refers to a trend where Korean companies are moving beyond the single framework of Team Korea and becoming a core force in restructuring the entire industry together with global technology companies." He added, "While the benefits of previous cycles were concentrated on public enterprises such as KEPCO Engineering & Construction and KPS, this cycle is likely to focus on private companies such as Hyundai Engineering & Construction, Doosan Enerbility, and BHI."
