This agreement aims to facilitate the smooth implementation of the Gyeonggi-do University Support System, known as the RISE (Regionally Innovative & Specialized Education) project, and to foster regionally tailored industries. It was established as an extension of discussions between the two institutions that have continued since April.

The signing ceremony and meeting took place at Dongguk University’s Bio-Medi Campus (BMC), attended by Joo Gwangdeok, Mayor of Namyangju City, Yoon Jaewoong, President of Dongguk University, Vice President Sung Jungseok, Lee Haewon, Director of Dongguk University Medical Center, and other key officials from both sides.

On this day, both parties shared the vision and research infrastructure of Dongguk University’s BMC, toured major research facilities on campus and Dongguk University Ilsan Hospital, and held broad discussions on potential avenues for collaboration. In particular, opinions were exchanged on the practical implementation of joint projects, laying the groundwork for concrete action plans in the future.

Through this agreement, Namyangju City plans to establish a close cooperative system with Dongguk University in areas such as fostering the smart green bio industry, cultivating AI and bio specialists, and expanding R&D support based on local industry demand.

Mayor Joo Gwangdeok stated, "This agreement will serve as a catalyst connecting Dongguk University’s outstanding research resources with Namyangju City’s industrial needs," and added, "Through continued cooperation and communication, we will develop Namyangju City into a hub for future industries in northern Gyeonggi Province."

Going forward, Namyangju City plans to accelerate the creation of a mega-city centered on advanced industries by actively utilizing Dongguk University’s R&D capabilities in the bio and medical fields, in connection with the ‘Wangsuk Urban High-Tech Industrial Complex,’ which is now entering full-scale development.
