Seven Cheonan Universities Selected for Chungnam RISE Project... Securing 5.8 Billion Won in Funding

On May 13, the city of Cheonan, Chungnam Province announced that seven local universities have been selected for the Chungnam Regional Innovation System for Education (RISE) project, securing a total of 5,788 million won in national and provincial funding.


The city stated that the following universities were chosen for the local government-led university financial support project: Dankook University, Korea University of Technology and Education, Baekseok University, Baekseok Culture University, Sangmyung University, Hoseo University, and Yeonam University.


Dankook University and Korea University of Technology and Education will carry out projects to establish a smart city infrastructure, while Baekseok University, Baekseok Culture University, Sangmyung University, and Hoseo University will promote the Anseodong Univcity Space project.


Additionally, Yeonam University will implement a companion animal development project, and Baekseok Culture University will undertake initiatives such as training food service experts tailored to local industries.


Kim Seokpil, acting mayor, stated, "Through the RISE project, we will establish a sustainable cooperation model that enables Cheonan and its universities to grow together," adding, "We will strive to create an environment that fosters local talent, including the development of Anseodong's employment and entrepreneurship street and a hub-type smart city, as well as to strengthen the region's technology base."
