Holding a Review Meeting to Establish a Foundation for Responding to Citizen Needs
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held a meeting to review key current projects of the Urban Public Development Bureau, chaired by Deputy Mayor Jo Myungrae.
A meeting to review current projects of the Urban Public Development Bureau was held, chaired by Deputy Mayor Jo Myungrae.
The meeting, held on May 12, was organized to ensure the smooth implementation of major ongoing projects. Department heads from the Urban Public Development Bureau attended and discussed the following: the status of large-scale project design, the progress of community-focused construction projects, the advancement of urban development projects for regional balanced growth, and improvements to the public facility project implementation system and safety management plans.
In addition, it was decided to promptly conduct a demand survey for public facility projects in the second half of the year in line with the timing of the first supplementary budget approval by the city council, and to proactively carry out safety inspections of construction sites in preparation for the summer rainy season.
The meeting closely reviewed the design progress of the Naeseo Library and Changwon Municipal Art Museum, which are highly anticipated by local residents, as well as the construction of the Masan Hoewon Fire Station, which aims to respond to the increasing demand for fire services in the area. The design for the Naeseo Library and Changwon Municipal Art Museum is scheduled for completion by July, while the Masan Hoewon Fire Station is targeted for design completion by December, with efforts being made to ensure there are no delays.
Ten sports facility renovation projects, including the second phase of the Daesan Park Golf Course construction and the replacement of artificial turf at the Changwon Football Center futsal field, have been completed. In addition, construction of three welfare facilities, including the Sanho Central Senior Center, is scheduled for completion by the end of May.
The integrated office building at the Agricultural Technology Center (49% complete) and the construction of the third columbarium at Changwon Municipal Sangbok Park (25% complete) are also progressing smoothly. The construction of the Jinhae Cultural Center and Library is being managed with a focus on timely completion, targeting July for completion.
Projects aimed at regional balanced development, such as the Changwon Self-Sufficient Complex Administrative Town urban development project and the expansion of the Changwon National Industrial Complex, were also key points of review. In particular, the complex administrative town is on track for completion in September, and a land sales contract with the Korea Fire Institute will be signed in May. The planned move-in process for 13 public institutions is also proceeding as scheduled.
In addition, urban development projects for the Safa District, Jaun District, and Myeongdong 2 District are being steadily promoted to secure eco-friendly living conditions in the city center and to prepare relocation measures in response to the development of Busan New Port.
To systematically implement public facility projects, the city will revise and distribute the "Changwon City Public Facility Project Standard Work Procedure Guide (Ver.1.0)" in June to reflect the latest laws and guidelines. The revised guide will include practical case studies, audit findings, and field-oriented Q&A to ensure it is useful for practitioners.
Furthermore, a demand survey for community-focused public facilities in areas such as office buildings, welfare, culture, and sports, which will be reflected in the first supplementary budget, will be conducted in May, with full-scale implementation set to begin in July. In June, the city will also conduct intensive safety inspections of major construction sites in preparation for the rainy season, taking effective preemptive measures.
Deputy Mayor Jo Myungrae stated, "This review meeting is a measure to ensure the smooth implementation of major urban planning and municipal projects," and urged, "Each department should closely monitor the progress of its respective projects and respond proactively to the changing administrative environment and citizen needs."
