On May 13, SK C&C announced that it will change its company name to 'SK AX' starting in June. The company explained that the new name reflects its determination to become a leader in business innovation for its clients through AI transformation. The name embodies the concepts of 'AI for the Future,' 'AI for Innovation,' 'AI for Expansion,' and 'AI for Infinite Possibilities (X).'

With this name change, SK AX plans to completely redesign its work processes, organization, and systems to be AI-centric. The company aims to apply AI technologies across all areas of its operations?including work analysis, system design, intelligent automation, and operational optimization?with the goal of increasing company-wide productivity by more than 30% by 2027. SK AX has also set a goal to become one of the world's top 10 AI transformation (AX) service companies within the next 10 years.

SK AX will consolidate its AI technology, data, and platform capabilities within the group to implement 'grand use cases' that demonstrate AI-driven innovation across various industries. The company is already achieving results such as reducing defect rates in manufacturing, predicting customer behavior in the financial sector, optimizing demand forecasting in the energy industry, and operating AI contact centers. SK AX is responsible for the entire cycle of AI innovation, from establishing customized AI strategies for clients to execution and expansion, and is strengthening its execution-focused AI innovation capabilities.

In particular, in the manufacturing industry, SK AX is accelerating the implementation of a 'digital manufacturing innovation model' that combines AI technology, on-site data, and the expertise of skilled workers. A representative example is the 'AI Master,' in which AI learns and autonomously supplements the tacit knowledge possessed by skilled workers. This structure is attracting attention as an AI innovation case that transforms skilled techniques into digital assets while simultaneously enhancing productivity and quality competitiveness. AI-based material property prediction technology is also drawing interest and is expected to significantly improve manufacturing process efficiency and product development speed in the future.
