Daegu Kansong Art Museum Wins "Museum and Art Museum of the Year Award"

Daegu Kansong Art Museum announced on May 12 that it received the "Museum and Art Museum of the Year Award (Planned Exhibition Category)" at the 28th National Museum Professionals Conference held at the National Museum of Korea.

The "Museum and Art Museum of the Year Award" is presented by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korean Museum Association to institutions that have contributed to the revitalization of museums and art museums in Korea. The recipients are selected through expert evaluations in a total of three categories: planned exhibitions, educational programs, and publications.

Daegu Kansong Art Museum was honored in the planned exhibition category for its "National Treasures and Treasures Exhibition: Yosedongbo - Treasures Shared by All," which was presented at the museum's opening last year.

This special exhibition, held from September 3 to December 1 of the previous year, showcased 97 items from 40 cases of national treasures and treasures preserved by Kansong Jeon Hyeongpil under the spirit of "cultural patriotism." Over the 78-day period, approximately 224,000 visitors (an average of about 2,870 per day) attended the exhibition.

In addition, the opening exhibition "National Treasures and Treasures Exhibition: Yosedongbo - Treasures Shared by All" at Daegu Kansong Art Museum received high praise for its beautiful artworks and displays, for contributing to the cultural rights of people in the central and southern regions of Korea, and for faithfully fulfilling the museum's role as a space where people can discover and appreciate Korean cultural heritage.

Jeon Ingeon, Director of Daegu Kansong Art Museum, stated, "I believe the high level of interest in Daegu Kansong Art Museum, which opened after a long period of preparation, and the dedication of our staff to promoting the excellence of our culture, have led to the achievement of receiving the 'Museum and Art Museum of the Year Award.' We will continue to make Daegu Kansong Art Museum a space that conveys the excellence of our culture through a variety of exhibitions."

We will continue to provide support so that the museum can present excellent exhibitions to citizens and strengthen its position as a landmark representing new culture and arts in the region."

Meanwhile, since April 30, Daegu Kansong Art Museum has been presenting its first planned exhibition, "Hwajomigam," which showcases the unique beauty of flower-and-bird paintings from the 16th to 19th centuries of the Joseon Dynasty.
