Establishing an Industry-Academia-Research Network
for Nuclear Power Talent Development and New Business Discovery in the Nuclear Industry
Gyeongbuk Technopark is taking proactive steps to cultivate specialized talent that will lead the future, keeping pace with the rapidly changing nuclear power industry environment.
On May 9, Gyeongbuk TP signed a business agreement with five participating universities to successfully promote the "2025 Gyeongbuk Nuclear Power Specialist Training Project."

The agreement includes the Dongguk University WISE Campus Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, the National Kyungpook University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, the Gimcheon University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, the Daegu University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, and the Daegu Catholic University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation.
Through this agreement, each institution pledged to establish a close cooperation system in various areas, including: training nuclear power specialists in Gyeongbuk Province; discovering new businesses related to the nuclear power industry; developing nuclear power industry technologies and establishing an industrial base; and building an industry-academia-research network to vitalize the nuclear power industry.
The "Gyeongbuk Nuclear Power Specialist Training Project" is a core initiative aimed at proactively responding to the expanding domestic and international nuclear power markets, amid workforce outflow and a decline in nuclear engineering admissions caused by the nuclear phase-out policy.
Gyeongbuk Province is focusing on strengthening the competitiveness of the regional nuclear power industry by cultivating specialized talent with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Gyeongbuk TP selected five universities this year among those in the province that offer nuclear power majors or related departments (such as mechanical, electrical and electronic, instrumentation and control, and radiation fields).
The selected universities will receive project funding ranging from 100 million to 130 million won per university, which will support the development of nuclear power training curricula, nuclear experiment support, hosting of internal competitions, and programs to enhance employment capabilities.
Ha Inseong, President of Gyeongbuk Technopark, said, "We will do our utmost to cultivate specialized talent for the qualitative advancement of the nuclear power industry in Gyeongbuk Province and to create a globally competitive nuclear power industry ecosystem in the region."
