"I Will Convey Mainstream Economic Perspectives to Lee Jaemyung"
"Kim Moonsoo, Who Believes in Election Fraud, Is an Anti-Intellectual Leader"
Byungtae Lee, former professor of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at KAIST, who served as the "economic advisor" for Hong Joonpyo's camp during the People Power Party's presidential primary, is joining the presidential campaign camp of Lee Jaemyung, candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea.

On May 12, Lee announced on his Facebook page, "I am joining Lee Jaemyung's camp," and stated, "Even if I end up abandoned and wounded after entering the tiger's den, I want to make my final outcry for economic freedom and conclude my social contributions."
He said, "I want to convey mainstream economic perspectives to candidate Lee Jaemyung," and added, "I am prepared for the possibility that I may fail there and be discarded. If what I believe in is not accepted, I am determined to quit at any time and live the life of a forgotten retiree."
He continued, "Although I have given it a lot of thought, I believe it will be difficult to gain the understanding of those of you who have shown interest in my views," and said, "Since I am the protagonist of my own life, I believe all criticism and ridicule are mine to bear."
Regarding his decision not to support Kim Moonsoo, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, he explained, "The biggest reason is the conspiracy theory about election fraud," and elaborated, "I cannot accept such an anti-intellectual leader, and since the primary process was not a fair game, I also cannot accept his legitimacy. The same goes for his labor movement-oriented economic views."
He added, "According to my values, I could not possibly accept the series of outrageous acts, whether it was Yoon Sukyeol's (former president) martial law, Kim Moonsoo's (candidate) fraudulent unification pledge-based victory, or the party leadership's late-night coup attempt to replace the candidate."
