in Response to the Republic of Korea Great Safety Transformation
Seongsan-gu, a district of Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam, launched a focused safety inspection on May 12, 2025, targeting local lodging facilities and multi-use businesses as part of the 2025 Republic of Korea Great Safety Transformation.
This inspection was carried out at one site each for lodging, public bathhouse, and karaoke business. A joint inspection team was formed with private-sector experts in facility, fire safety, and electrical fields, working together with public officials.
The main inspection items were as follows: ▲(Facilities) status of safety management, safety of key facility components, and facility finishing; ▲(Fire safety) firefighting equipment such as fire extinguishers, alarm systems, and evacuation and rescue equipment; ▲(Electrical) lighting facilities, entrance wiring, and electrical installations. Minor issues identified during the inspection were immediately corrected on site, and for facilities requiring repair or reinforcement, guidance was provided to ensure follow-up actions could be taken promptly.
Kim Su-yun, head of the Culture and Sanitation Division, stated, "We will continue to make efforts to conduct intensive safety inspections on facilities that attract high public interest or pose risks of disaster or accidents, in order to eliminate risk factors in advance. I also ask business owners and facility managers to do their best to prevent safety accidents."
