Gwangju University announced on May 12 that the Graduate School of Health Counseling Policy's Master's Program in Korean Language Education and the General Graduate School's Doctoral Program in Korean Cultural Education Contents jointly held an academic conference.


The academic conference was held on the afternoon of May 8 in the Smart Lecture Room of the Administration Building at Gwangju University. At the event, prospective researchers gave in-depth presentations and engaged in discussions on a variety of topics related to multicultural society and Korean language education.


Jang Miyeong, Director of the Gwangju Nam-gu Family Center, delivered a special lecture titled "Walking Together with the Local Community and Multicultural Families," sharing real-world cases and emphasizing the importance of community-based multicultural practices.


During the subsequent research presentations by master's and doctoral students, a wide range of topics reflecting the realities of multicultural society and practical Korean language education were addressed, including: ▲A Study on Journalists' Perceptions of the Korean Language Teaching Profession (Master's Program, Song Ilho), ▲A Study on Korean Dialect Education Methods for Foreigners (Master's Program, Nguyen Thi Minh Thanh), ▲A Study on Dialect Education Methods Related to Job Duties for Foreigners in Jeollanam-do (Master's Program, Vo Le Bao Ngoc), ▲A Comparative Study of Chuseok Culture in East Asia (Doctoral Program, Wang Xuejin), ▲A Study on Korean for Specific Purposes Curricula (Doctoral Program, Chan Phan), and ▲A Research Plan for Analyzing Trends in the Operation of Social Integration Programs (Doctoral Program, Jeong Gijin).


Doctoral student Jeong Gijin announced plans to conduct a thorough analysis of the current status of the Social Integration Program, which has been in operation since 2009, in light of Gwangju University being officially designated as a Social Integration Program operating institution for 2025. He intends to research future directions for improvement and to verify the program's effectiveness.


During the comprehensive feedback session following the presentations, professors Park Ilwoo, Park Sunwon, Kim Youngjin, Kim Yunhee, and Hwang Jinyoung, who supervise the master's and doctoral programs, attended and provided students with professional advice to deepen the direction of their research, thereby motivating them.
