The Daejeon City Council announced that it will operate the "2025 First Half Youth Council Classroom" from May 12 to May 28, targeting 108 students from six schools.

Students from Seobu Elementary School, who were the first to participate in this year’s first half Youth Council Classroom, took on the role of city council members for a day, experiencing activities such as submitting agenda items and making free speeches.

In particular, they directly proposed the agenda item "Using an app to prevent smartphone addiction," and held a debate and vote on the topic.

Students who participated in the Youth Council Classroom said, "It was a meaningful time as we were able to experience every step of the city council’s proceedings and learn about the history of local autonomy," adding, "It was a valuable opportunity to easily understand the role of local councils and the process of making important decisions."

Kim Youngsam, a council member (Seogu 2, People Power Party), stated, "I hope today’s experience will help you better understand the role of local councils and serve as an opportunity to grow into mature citizens who contribute to the development of your local community."
