This program has been implemented since last year through an agreement between Icheon City and the Army Intelligence School. This year's education, which is conducted as a three-week, experience-centered course at the Army Intelligence School, includes participation from students of six schools: Icheon High School, Icheon Yangjeong Girls' High School, Yulmyun Middle School, Icheon Gyeongnam Middle School, Buwon High School, and Icheon Taxation High School.
The curriculum consists of: ▲Week 1, basic theory classes; ▲Week 2, basic practical training; and ▲Week 3, experiences such as visiting military facilities, viewing military drone exhibitions, and using drone virtual reality (VR) simulators.
Kim Kyunghee, Mayor of Icheon, stated, "Together with the Army Intelligence School, we will introduce the drone industry, a core technology of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, to our citizens and promote projects that will help Icheon grow into an advanced future city."
Meanwhile, Icheon City has been designated as a drone demonstration city by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport for 2025 and is currently building advanced drone industry infrastructure. The city is establishing a flight test site for drone demonstrations at Cheongmicheon, and is also promoting the commercialization of future air mobility projects involving both civilian and military participants tailored to the region.
