SOSLab, a leading company in LiDAR technology, announced on May 12 that it has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) with EMS, a company specializing in eco-friendly energy solutions and smart technologies, to target the global smart multi-sensor market. The agreement was signed at the Honam Alumni Association of the Youth Startup Academy, operated by the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency.
Through this agreement, the two companies plan to establish a framework for technological and business cooperation and maximize business synergy. In particular, they intend to actively pursue collaboration to enter the global market in the next-generation smart multi-sensor sector, which is a key focus for EMS.
EMS is a promising startup that is actively engaged in research and business development centered on energy, new materials, and smart technologies. Within just three years of its founding, EMS has filed and registered a total of 23 patents, successfully completed seven government projects, and was selected as a participating company in the Legend 50+ program for semiconductor gas filter materials, demonstrating rapid achievements.
The multifunctional smart multi-sensor currently being developed by EMS is a core component of a smart IT platform that can be applied across various sectors, including smart cities (smart streetlights), industrial and public safety (electric vehicle fire detection), smart factories and manufacturing, and the defense industry.
EMS is also developing an AI platform based on data collected from its multi-sensors and possesses in-house development capabilities across the entire spectrum from hardware to software.
SOSLab plans to combine its LiDAR technology with EMS's smart multi-sensor technology to generate tangible results in the construction of smart city and smart transportation infrastructure. The two companies will also continue to cooperate in areas such as technical support, sample provision, and the rental of development equipment and software.
Hanchan Lee, CEO of EMS, stated, "With this agreement, we expect to create strong synergy by combining SOSLab's precise LiDAR technology with our smart multi-sensor technology," adding, "Through our collaboration, we will establish a foothold for entering the global smart infrastructure market and achieve tangible results."
Jisung Jung, CEO of SOSLab, said, "I am very pleased to collaborate with EMS, a company led by Hanchan Lee with outstanding technological capabilities and execution," and added, "By combining the core competencies of both companies, we will grow together as partners leading the global smart infrastructure market."
