Gwangju Bukgu District Selected for Seven Projects Including "Humanities on the Road" and "Wisdom School"

Five Libraries to Participate, Securing 70 Million Won in National Funding
Programs on Traditional Culture and Philosophy to Begin in August

Gwangju Bukgu District has been selected for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's "Humanities on the Road" and "Wisdom School" public contest projects, and will operate a total of seven humanities programs at five local libraries. Starting in August, a series of educational courses combining lectures, hands-on experiences, and field trips will be conducted sequentially.

On May 12, Bukgu District announced that, through this selection, it has secured 70 million won in national funding. Five district libraries?Ilgok, Yangsan, Junghung, Unam, and Sinyong?will participate in the project.


"Humanities on the Road" is an introductory humanities program that combines lectures, hands-on experiences, and field trips. Two courses will be offered: "Traditional Culture Class with Intangible Heritage Successors" at Ilgok Library, and "A Time for Reading Masterpieces, Viewing Masterworks, and Listening to Masterpieces" at Yangsan Library.


"Wisdom School" is an advanced program for in-depth exploration of the humanities. It includes five programs: "The Consolation of Philosophy" at Junghung Library; "Gottfried Leibniz, the Voyager of Civilization" and "World Masterpiece Theater" at Unam Library; "Sculpting Human Life through Writing" at Yangsan Library; and "Walking through Art History, Reaching Wisdom" at Sinyong Library.


All programs will be conducted sequentially at each library after preparations, starting in August. Applications for participation and further details can be found on the Bukgu Integrated Library website.
