High Marks for Strengthening Personal Information Protection System and Improving Management Framework

The level of personal information protection in Dobong-gu, Seoul (headed by Mayor Oh Unseok), has been proven to be outstanding among basic local governments.

The district announced that it received an Excellent (A) grade in the "2024 Public Institution Personal Information Protection Level Evaluation" organized by the Personal Information Protection Commission. This is the highest grade awarded among basic local governments.

This evaluation was conducted for 1,426 public institutions nationwide, assessing whether each institution met legal requirements related to the Personal Information Protection Act and carried out effective personal information protection activities.

The district received high marks from evaluators for implementing effective protection policies, such as strengthening its personal information protection system and improving its personal information management framework.

In particular, the establishment of the "Dobong-gu Personal Information Protection Ordinance," which clarified the role of personal information protection managers in line with the institution's circumstances, and the regular provision of personal information protection training for all staff, were highly praised.

The district also received positive feedback for its efforts to enhance residents' rights and interests, such as subscribing to personal information damage compensation insurance.

This year, the district plans to further advance its information protection system and strengthen safety measures. Projects include building a "visualization system for encrypted traffic" to protect personal information and introducing a new vulnerability inspection system.

Additionally, the district plans to conduct a "personal information protection level consulting" service to ensure that personal information is managed safely and procedurally.

Oh Unseok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, stated, "Personal information is directly linked to the rights and interests of residents, so it must be protected safely," adding, "We will continue to do our best to improve systems and develop policies so that personal information can be thoroughly managed."
