Gyeonggi Province will hold an open call from June 11 to 13 for artist gardens and lifestyle gardens to be exhibited at the 13th Gyeonggi Garden Culture Expo, which will take place at the Pyeongtaek Agricultural Ecology Park in October 2025.
This year’s contest theme is “A Garden in the Yard.” Gyeonggi Province is seeking creative garden ideas that emotionally express the connection with nature in daily life, in line with the overall expo theme, “Pyeongtaek’s Yard: Meeting Gardens in Everyday Life.” The core of this contest is to portray Pyeongtaek’s vast and peaceful fields, abundant water resources, and the breathing nature of each season as the art of garden spaces.
The contest will select seven artist gardens and eight lifestyle gardens. Each artist garden will be approximately 150 square meters in size and will receive 50 million won in funding. Each lifestyle garden will be approximately 12 square meters and will receive 3 million won in support.

Gyeonggi Province will announce the final selections in July after document review, presentation evaluation, and public verification. The selected works will begin on-site construction in August and will be open to the public during the expo from October 16 to 19.
Lee Jeongsoo, Director of the Garden Industry Division at Gyeonggi Province, said, “The Gyeonggi Garden Culture Expo is a meaningful cultural event that expands the region’s garden infrastructure and enhances green welfare for residents. We hope this year’s contest will become a new model for garden culture that harmonizes with Pyeongtaek’s nature and encompasses public interest, artistry, and sustainability.”
Meanwhile, the Gyeonggi Garden Culture Expo aims to spread garden culture into everyday life while promoting sustainable gardening as a key response to the climate crisis. The gardens created through this event will remain as public spaces and places of rest for citizens even after the expo concludes.
