Targeting the Tastes of the MZ Generation
with Immersive Goods Shops and More
Dongjak-gu in Seoul has transformed the former Noryangjin Water Intake Facility into ‘SPACE K Nodeul’ and began temporary operations on May 10.
Located at the southern end of the east side of Hangang Bridge, this space features one basement floor, one ground floor, and a total floor area of 659.14 square meters. It serves as a waterfront cultural complex with views of the Han River. The official opening is scheduled for early next month. The venue is designed as a specialized space that combines retro sensibilities with new media technology.

‘SPACE K Nodeul’ offers a variety of Korean cultural experiences, including K-pop and K-food, targeting the MZ generation and foreign tourists. Notably, it features an immersive goods shop, a state-of-the-art media facade, K-pop brand exhibitions, and a dedicated stage for fan meetings, showcases, and pop-up events. On the rooftop, there will be a photo spot with river views and a glass cube for exhibitions.
The internal F&B area provides a unique culinary experience with modern interpretations of K-food, such as casual temple cuisine, organic desserts, and beverages. After completing remodeling in December 2024, the district selected an operator through a public bidding process earlier this year, and facility improvements for the K-culture cafe were finished last month.
The Noryangjin Water Intake Facility, built in 1974, once supplied tap water to Seoul residents. However, after water intake operations ceased in 1992, it was used as a storage warehouse and had been virtually abandoned.
Park Ilha, head of Dongjak-gu, stated, “The intake facility that once provided tap water for Seoul citizens will now be reborn as a hot spot spreading the charm of K-culture. I hope those who want to experience new emotions and enjoyment in a space overlooking the Han River will be sure to visit.”
