Seongnam Mayor Shin Sangjin attended the '14th Global Harmony Festival' held at Seongnam City Hall Plaza on the 11th, where he emphasized Seongnam's multicultural inclusiveness and its vision as a global city.

The event was a great success, with more than 5,000 citizens and foreign residents from 25 countries participating. In particular, families from the US Forces Korea K16 base were specially invited, adding to the significance of international harmony.

In his commemorative address, Mayor Shin stated, "This festival, where diverse cultures come together, is a valuable opportunity for us to unite," and added, "Seongnam aims to become a truly global city, and we will continue to actively support these cultural exchanges."

Mayor Shin further remarked, "All foreign residents living in Seongnam are our precious family members and partners for the future," and continued, "We will move forward together toward a better tomorrow by respecting and understanding one another."

The commemorative ceremony included pre-event traditional performances, awards for distinguished contributors, official congratulatory remarks, and a commemorative photo session with the national flags of 25 countries. Following the ceremony, Mayor Shin visited various booths featuring cultural exhibitions, hands-on experiences, and food from around the world, where he spent time interacting with foreign residents and citizens.

This festival is regarded as both a practical step toward Seongnam becoming a multicultural society and a symbolic event in fostering a city culture where diversity is respected.
