On this day, during a meeting with reporters in Yeongam, Jeollanam-do, Lee commented on former President Yoon's Facebook post urging support for Kim Moon Soo, the People Power Party presidential candidate, making the above statement.
When asked about his view on the process of Kim's nomination, Lee stated, "It makes no sense to arbitrarily change the candidate, but since the selected candidate has become the final nominee, that's a relief."
Lee also said, "The People Power Party should first apologize for having abetted acts that undermined constitutional order," and added, "How can a candidate who shields those who supported insurrection expect to win the people's trust?"
Lee emphasized, "The first thing the People Power Party and candidate Kim should do is to offer a profound apology for the insurrection committed against the people by the People Power Party and its number one member, former President Yoon Suk Yeol."
