On May 11, Jeonnam Hampyeong County announced that it is conducting customized on-site consulting to establish a year-round production base and improve cultivation techniques for its local specialty crop, zucchini.
The county will carry out the 2025 Customized Future Strategy Local Specialty Crop Development Project for zucchini growers until August this year. As part of the consulting, zucchini experts will visit zucchini farms to provide one-on-one individual consultations. In particular, the consulting will offer tailored advice to each farm, including pest and disease diagnosis and prevention according to the crop's growth stage during the season, as well as inspections of the growing environment for each field.
In addition, the county will support on-site training that reflects the practical difficulties faced by farmers. The training will focus on providing effective technical support, such as improving early response capabilities to pest and disease outbreaks and standardizing growth management practices.
The county expects that this project will help establish a scientific management system for the entire zucchini cultivation process and contribute to building a stable, year-round production base.
County Governor Lee Sangik stated, "Since zucchini is a representative specialty crop of our region, I hope this on-site consulting will provide substantial help in strengthening the competitiveness of local farms," adding, "We will continue to enhance the future competitiveness of local agriculture through practical, field-oriented education and ongoing technical support."
