Magnitude 3.3 Earthquake Strikes Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province: Tremors Felt in Nearby Areas Provided by Korea Meteorological Administration Yonhap News Agency

At approximately 1:19 p.m. on May 10, an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.3 occurred 5 kilometers northeast of Yeoncheon County, Gyeonggi Province.


According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the epicenter of the earthquake was observed at latitude 38.14 degrees north and longitude 127.09 degrees east, with a depth of about 9 kilometers.


The Korea Meteorological Administration stated, "There is a possibility that tremors strong enough to be felt were detected in areas near the epicenter," and urged residents to pay close attention to safety.


As of 1:40 p.m., shortly after the earthquake, the Northern Gyeonggi Province Fire and Disaster Headquarters reported that a total of 12 reports related to the earthquake had been received. However, no casualties or property damage have been reported so far.


The Korea Meteorological Administration and fire authorities are closely monitoring the situation in preparation for possible aftershocks, and have advised residents to familiarize themselves with the emergency response guidelines provided through disaster text alerts or broadcasts.
